Shaping the Narrative: Sustainability, Greenwashing & Credibility - Audio Only
Tuesday Nov 04, 2025
Tuesday Nov 04, 2025
In this episode, we will examine the narratives that have shaped the biomass industry to date and the factors that may influence how the story unfolds in the years to come. Looking to the future, our guest Liz Woodworth will explain how greenwashing is defined in the bioenergy industry, the various frameworks that are taking hold and how they are communicated through corporate disclosures, and the level of scrutiny bioenergy companies are facing. Our conversation also includes how today’s leaders are responding by developing credible lifecycle emissions data and third-party validation, navigating shifting ESG expectations, and finding fresh ways to meet the requirements of industrial buyers.

The Global Bioenergy Landscape: Focus on Asia & Africa - Audio Only
Tuesday Nov 04, 2025
Tuesday Nov 04, 2025
Bioenergy demand is rising globally, but not all regions are created equal. In this episode, we explore the evolving global market for biomass like black pellets and what’s driving demand outside of North America and Europe. Our guest Maarten Gnoth shares the realities on the ground including local feedstocks, current infrastructure, and how logistics gaps affect uptake, especially in high-growth regions like Asia and Africa. Maarten shares an especially interesting example of his work helping the island of Mauritius transition to bioenergy.
Our discussion includes how power producers and industrial buyers are using pellets to meet decarbonization goals, the policies that help and hinder these developments, the infrastructure gaps (e.g., port access, storage capacity, logistics constraints), and other factors that shape who scales successfully and who gets left behind.

Policy Pressure: How Regulation is Reshaping Bioenergy’s Future - Audio Only
Tuesday Nov 04, 2025
Tuesday Nov 04, 2025
In this episode, we explore the policy landscape shaping the future of bioenergy. From the regulatory tailwinds that are accelerating adoption to the headwinds creating friction for producers, investors, and end-users, what does it take to stay compliant, competitive, and credible in today’s shifting environment?
Through our discussion, we’ll unpack the complex regulations shaping bioenergy today. From Europe’s RED III and the U.S.’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBA) to emerging carbon intensity frameworks and local permitting challenges, we’ll explore how governments are influencing project financing, feedstock sourcing, and investment decisions. Whether you're scaling bioenergy technology, funding the transition, or managing a facility considering biomass, this conversation will help you anticipate what’s next and what really matters.
